Dear Students and Staff of SLTC,
As we begin the month of July 2026, I extend my warmest greetings and best wishes to every member of the Sri Lanka Technology Campus community.
Today, the first day of July, marks a particularly significant moment in our continuing journey. It is indeed a red-letter day for SLTC, as we launch our de novo website, developed as a joint initiative of the Department of IT and the Library. This important milestone reflects the capability, commitment, and collaborative spirit of our internal teams, and I place on record my sincere appreciation to all those who contributed towards making this student-centred initiative a reality.
The launch of the new website, together with the strengthening of our digital security framework and digital platforms, signals the beginning of a new era for SLTC. These developments are not merely technological improvements; they are central to creating a more secure, accessible, student-friendly, and research-supportive environment. They will help make learning, academic engagement, innovation, and research more fulfilling for our students and staff.
I am also pleased to note that the University Management System digital platform has gone live concurrently, with supporting features designed to assist student functions across the campus. This is a major step towards improving student services, academic administration, communication, and institutional responsiveness. As these systems mature, they will provide a stronger foundation for the efficient functioning of the campus and the overall student experience.
At the heart of these initiatives is our student-centric approach. The academic community and the top management of SLTC remain firmly committed to ensuring that our students are supported not only in their academic progression, but also in their personal development, professional readiness, and sense of belonging to the institution.
SLTC is increasingly being recognized for its distinctive and future-oriented mix of study programmes, which truly personifies our motto: Non Scholae Sed Vitae Discimus – We learn not for school, but for life. This guiding principle reminds us that education must prepare our students for life, leadership, innovation, ethical responsibility, and meaningful contribution to society.
We welcome this new digital era with confidence. It is an era that should leave an indelible mark on the emerging SLTC fraternity, strengthening pride and trust in our Alma Mater. Such pride and trust are essential to shaping well-rounded graduates who are confident, globally aware, professionally competent, and deeply connected to the values of our institution.
We are already seeing encouraging examples of this spirit among our students. Our student clubs and societies continue to bring honour to SLTC through their creative leadership and committed outreach. The two recent awards won by SEDS, together with the recognition received from leading national schools, are examples of achievements that make us proud. These accomplishments reflect the energy and potential of our students when guided by purpose, discipline, teamwork, and institutional pride.
At the same time, I wish to draw attention to an important responsibility that accompanies institutional recognition. As members of the SLTC community, we must be mindful of how the good name of SLTC is represented in public spaces, including social media. Student and staff postings made in the name of SLTC, or in ways that may be associated with SLTC, must reflect accuracy, dignity, fairness, and responsibility. Ungainly, inaccurate, or skewed posts can undermine the trust, reputation, and collective effort that many have worked hard to build.
I therefore urge all students and staff to exercise utmost care, maturity, and institutional loyalty in digital communication and public engagement. The student community, in particular, must recognize that they are among the guardians of their university’s reputation, values, and future.
Let us use this new beginning to build a stronger, more secure, more student-centred SLTC that continues to raise the bar in higher education. Let us work together to create an environment where learning is meaningful, research is encouraged, creativity is celebrated, and every student feels proud to belong to this growing academic fraternity.
