Dear Staff, Students, Alumni, and Members of the SLTC Community,

As we welcome the month of August 2026, I extend my warmest greetings and best wishes to all members of the Sri Lanka Technology Campus community.

August marks an important milestone in the academic journey of SLTC as we prepare to celebrate the graduation of more than 350 students, who will become the newest members of our growing alumni community. Convocation is a moment of pride and fulfilment, not only for our graduands and their families, but also for the academic, administrative, and support staff whose commitment has guided them throughout their university experience and towards this memorable ceremony.

We are particularly encouraged by the highly positive external reviews on the quality of our programmes in Electronic and Telecommunication Engineering, Power Systems Engineering, and related areas of study, as well as the diverse subject areas offered within the Faculty of Business Management. This recognition strengthens our confidence as we progressively expand and enhance programme accreditation with the relevant national professional and regulatory bodies. These initiatives are being advanced under the leadership of our highly experienced Deans, supported by enthusiastic Heads of Departments and committed, quality-conscious academic teams.

We are also honoured to welcome Dr G V Selvam, Honourable Vice President of the Vellore Institute of Technology, India, as our keynote speaker at the SLTC Convocation 2026. This visit represents another significant step in the rapid growth of the partnership between SLTC and VIT. Our institutional collaboration continues to develop through stronger staff and student engagement, shared academic activities, applied learning, collaborative research, innovation, and industry-centred initiatives. These mutually beneficial partnerships provide valuable opportunities for our students and staff to broaden their knowledge, strengthen professional networks, and contribute to research and innovation of regional and global relevance.

Another important achievement has been the launch of the new SLTC website, developed largely through our own institutional talent. I wish to recognise the outstanding contribution of our first-year student, Kaveesha Pansilu, whose dedication, creativity, and untiring efforts played a central role in bringing this initiative to fruition. This project provided our students from the Media Unit and the Faculty of Computing & Information Technology with valuable experiential learning opportunities, demonstrating how student talent can be nurtured through real-world institutional projects. Their work was further strengthened by the guidance of the IT Advisory Committee, led by the Academic Dean, together with the Librarian and a most supportive administration.

Such achievements reflect the collaborative spirit, innovation, and student-centred approach that we seek to promote throughout SLTC. The student learning experience has been further enriched through the introduction of our first structured career guidance workshops, leading to a Career Fair scheduled for 5th August 2026, with the participation of leading corporate organisations. I thank every academic and administrative staff member for their enthusiastic engagement in bringing this important new dimension to the university experience. I encourage our students to make the fullest use of this opportunity and to recognise the value-added education made available.

At the same time, I urge all students to uphold the SLTC Code of Conduct, respect institutional rules and regulations, and comply with the timelines and requirements relating to academic and financial management processes. I also take this opportunity to express our sincere appreciation to the members of the Council, the Chairman, and the Board of Directors for the confidence and trust they have placed in the ongoing repositioning and strengthening of SLTC's central academic, administrative, financial, digital, and student-support processes. Their guidance and oversight remain vital as we pursue responsible, accountable, and sustainable institutional development.

SLTC continues to make steady, quality-assured progress in the development of short courses and flexible learning opportunities that respond to emerging professional and industry needs. We are especially committed to becoming a pioneer in the local implementation of microcredentials that are industry-relevant and globally recognised. Microcredentials will create new opportunities for students, graduates, working professionals, and industry partners to acquire targeted competencies, strengthen employability, and engage in lifelong learning. Their development will remain aligned with appropriate quality-assurance frameworks and the evolving needs of national and international industries.

As we move forward, let us continue to uphold the SLTC motto, Non Scholae Sed Vitae Discimus, "We learn not for school, but for life." I wish our graduands every success as they embark upon the next stage of their professional and personal journeys.

I also extend my sincere appreciation to every member of the SLTC community whose dedication continues to shape the progress and reputation of our institution.
