Dedicated to advancing research and practices that promote sustainability in agriculture while protecting and enhancing the environment.
The center focuses on addressing the complex challenges faced by agricultural systems, including soil health, water use, climate change, biodiversity conservation, and sustainable food production.
The Mission & Aim
The Mission
To conduct interdisciplinary research that bridges the gap between agriculture and environmental science.
Aim
To develop innovative, practical solutions that support sustainable farming practices, reduce environmental degradation, and contribute to the long-term resilience of food systems.
This includes the promotion of conservation practices, integrated pest management, water-efficient technologies, agroecology, and the use of renewable resources in agricultural processes.
SAERC center consists of,
- Tissue culture laboratory with its net house - culturing banana, orchid, and anthurium
- We have more than 1000 culture bottles (more than 100,000 plant to cell)
- 700 bloomed orchid plants ready to be celled
- Polytunnels for cultivation and research work
- Hydroponic unit - Practical with Agri students
- Mushroom unit – Under development
- Beekeeping unit – 10 Active Beehives
- Banana Germplasm - First banana crop collection in a university
- Herbal garden – Will be complete within this month
- Citrus crop collection – Collecting stage

- Landscape garden – Collecting
- Cardamom collection - Collected
- Tea land – Established
- Vanilla land – Established
- Dragon fruit land – Established
- And a large area of land for field work and experimental purposes.
Research Collaborations with the Center
Sichuan Agricultural University, China
Collaborate with the Center PI for research, exchange students for training, and higher education.

For selected research based on fertilizer and mushroom cultivation.

We are open to all departments at SLTC and outside academics
