The International Research Conference (IRC) is the flagship annual research conference organized by the Office of Research & Innovation Services (ORIS) under the Faculty of Postgraduate Studies & Research (FPSR) at Sri Lanka Technology Campus (SLTC). It serves as a premier platform for researchers, academics, industry professionals, students, and policymakers to present original research, exchange ideas, and build meaningful collaborations.

As a multidisciplinary international conference, IRC brings together expertise from diverse fields to promote research excellence, innovation, and interdisciplinary partnerships that address real-world challenges and contribute to sustainable development. By welcoming high-quality research across a broad range of thematic areas, the conference strengthens connections between academia, industry, and the wider community while encouraging the translation of research into practical impact.

SLTC has been hosting its flagship International Research Conference annually since 2020, and over the years, it has grown into a recognized platform for national and international research collaboration, knowledge sharing, and innovation.

SLTC Research & Innovation Awards (SLTC-RIA)

The SLTC Research & Innovation Awards 2025 celebrated excellence in research, development, and innovation across Sri Lanka's industrial sectors, as well as within SLTC's own staff and student community.

The initiative was launched to address a long-standing gap in visibility and recognition for industrial and academic R&D. By creating a dedicated platform for these contributions, the awards aim to strengthen collaboration between academia and industry, and to build a more robust national research ecosystem.

The Sri Lanka Technology Campus (SLTC) Journal of Emerging Science, Engineering and Technology is a peer reviewed hybrid journal dedicated to publishing cutting edge research and advancements in scientific, engineering, and technological disciplines. The journal seeks to bridge the gap between theoretical research and practical applications, fostering innovation and collaboration among academics, researchers, and industry professionals. The journal particularly encourages interdisciplinary research that integrates science, engineering, and technology to develop sustainable, innovative, and practical solutions for modern challenges.

Emerging Scholars' Research Programme

The Faculty of Postgraduate Studies is pleased to introduce the Emerging Scholars' Research Programme, a distinctive initiative designed for high-performing undergraduate students and teaching assistants with a strong interest in research and innovation.

This selective programme aims to identify and nurture promising young scholars by providing a structured pathway for the development of their academic and research capabilities. As the first initiative of its kind within Sri Lanka's higher education sector, it underscores Sri Lanka Technology Campus's commitment to advancing research excellence and innovation.

Phase 1

The programme commences in the second year of study with a three-month foundational training phase, during which participants are introduced to essential research concepts, methodologies, and academic practices. Training is delivered by both national and international experts, ensuring participants receive broad exposure and high-quality instruction.

Phase 2

Upon successful completion of this phase, selected participants are offered a long terms research engagement within a research group under the Research Cell. This phase provides hands-on experience, deeper academic involvement, and the opportunity to contribute meaningfully to ongoing research projects.

Overall, the programme is designed to build strong research skills, support academic growth, and prepare students for postgraduate studies and research-oriented careers.

Research Cell & the Research Groups

Research plays a pivotal role in the institute's system harnessing long-term goals of knowledge generation, problem-solving, development of innovation, and capacity building. Research Cell is considered the catalyst behind all the research activities in the campus.

Objectives of the Research Cell are:

To cultivate a dynamic research environment that encourages faculty members, researchers, and students to engage in high-quality research across diverse disciplines.

To facilitate interdisciplinary collaboration and knowledge exchange among researchers, promoting innovation and addressing complex societal challenges.

To provide resources, guidance, and support to researchers in securing funding, conducting research, and disseminating research findings.

To enhance the visibility, impact, and recognition of research conducted by university faculty members and students through publication, dissemination, and translation into real-world applications.

To foster partnerships and collaborations with external stakeholders, including industry, government agencies, non-profit organizations, and international institutions, to leverage resources and expertise for mutual benefit and societal impact.

To ensure ethical conduct of research within the campus.

To ensure adherence to academic standards to promote the scholarly achievements of its researchers.
