SLTC had the opportunity to participate in the three-day regional capacity-building workshop, “Promoting Digital Technologies for Preserving Cultural Heritage,” organised by the SAARC Cultural Centre from 16–18 September 2026.
The workshop brought together heritage experts, museum curators, researchers, and technology practitioners from across South Asia to explore the role of digital technologies in the preservation, documentation, interpretation, and promotion of cultural heritage.
Representatives from SLTC’s Computational Intelligence and Robotics (CIR) Research Lab participated in the workshop, engaging in discussions and knowledge exchange on the application of digital technologies in cultural heritage. As part of the programme, the team also showcased its in-house-developed Metaverse of Sigiriya VR experience on 18 September at the National Maritime Archaeology Museum, Galle.
SLTC extends its sincere appreciation to the SAARC Cultural Centre and its collaborating partners, including the Central Cultural Fund and the Institute of Archaeology and Heritage Studies, for organising the workshop and providing a valuable platform for engagement and collaboration.
