Overview

The Bachelor of Science in Travel & Tourism Management (General) Degree at SLTC is the ideal stepping stone for anyone who seeks to enter the exciting profession of tourism, travel, and hospitality industry in the modern digitalised world with a 3-year general degree. Whether to work as a professional travel or hospitality service provider, launch a similar venture of their own or promote tourism anywhere in the world, a sound knowledge of the industry is vital. In addition to learning about this diverse global industry, students of this programme will also be able to develop many transferable skills that are crucial to be successful in this industry. Our faculty is composed of well-experienced professionals and academics who guide students to navigate the challenges unique to tourism and hospitality management, train them in professional etiquette and ethics and expose them to the many facets of this industry.

Graduates of this programme will engage in a final project alongside the faculty and work with the industry on various projects throughout their studies. Internships are part of the curriculum and will be carried out in partnership with recognised organisations in the industry.

Entry Requirements

Minimum three (3) Simple passes (“S”) in any stream in one sitting at the GCE (Advanced Level) Examination conducted by the Department of Examinations of Sri Lanka or equivalent qualification.

The programme focuses on building a strong foundation in tourism principles, customer service, and sustainable tourism practices. Students gain valuable real-world insight through industry visits, guest lectures from sector experts, and collaborative projects with leading tourism and hospitality organisations.
Practical training components, including internships and field-based assignments, allow students to experience the operational aspects of tour operations, hospitality services, event coordination, and travel consultancy. These immersive experiences prepare graduates to enter the workforce with the skills, adaptability, and professionalism demanded by the dynamic tourism sector.
