Vice Chancellor’s Monthly Message – November 2026

A message from the Vice Chancellor reflecting on SLTC’s progress and inspiring integrity, collaboration and renewed purpose during November 2026.

Dear Students, Staff and Alumni of SLTC,

As we welcome the month of November, I extend my warmest wishes to every member of the SLTC community. May this month bring renewed energy and many rewarding experiences as we continue our journey of growth and excellence together.

We are delighted to welcome our new undergraduates to the SLTC family. It is encouraging to see that a large proportion of our new entrants have already had the opportunity to savour the beautiful campus environment and experience the distinctive Pre-University Course. We hope the upcoming orientation week and your early experiences have given you a glimpse of the exciting academic and personal journey that lies ahead. To our new students, you are now part of a vibrant community, and we look forward to seeing you grow, discover your potential and make the most of your time at SLTC and be our brand ambassadors.

As we reflect on the academic calendar, we note the successful completion of the end-semester examinations, while the BAIT examinations are currently in progress. We commend our students and experienced academic staff for their commitment and perseverance throughout the semester gone by. Each academic milestone provides an opportunity to reflect, learn and prepare for the challenges and opportunities ahead.

We also warmly welcome our new Chief Operating Officer (COO) and look forward to a fresh impetus on the operational and student experience at SLTC. In particular, we aspire to further enrich the Student Life experience, placing greater emphasis on developing essential soft skills, strengthening sports and recreational activities, and fostering a culture of discipline, responsibility and mutual respect. Our ambition is to ensure that every SLTC graduate is not only academically competent but also confident, well-rounded and ready to make a meaningful contribution to society.

At SLTC, we remain firmly committed to sound academic principles, high-quality education and career-oriented experiential learning. We believe that education must go beyond the classroom, connecting knowledge with practical application, innovation and face the realities of the professional world. Maintaining academic integrity, continuously enhancing quality and ensuring that our programmes remain relevant to evolving industry and societal needs will continue to be our guiding priority.

We sincerely appreciate the patience and understanding demonstrated by our students during the refurbishment of Hub1 in our hostel complex. We recognise that the temporary inconvenience required adjustment and cooperation, and we are grateful for the mature manner in which our students have coped with the situation. We look forward to welcoming residents to the refurbished facility, which is expected to be ready for occupation in the new semester. This improvement is another step towards providing a more comfortable and enriching campus living experience.

Another significant highlight is the Sixth SLTC International Research Conference this month, which offers an excellent platform for nurturing curiosity and critical thinking to encourage a research-oriented mindset among our academic community. Research is fundamental to innovation, knowledge creation and national development. More importantly, it is essential that we inspire the next generation of graduates to question, investigate, explore and contribute to new knowledge. I encourage all students, staff and researchers to engage enthusiastically with the conference proceedings and make the best use of this valuable opportunity to imbibe a research ethos.

As we move through November, let us continue to work together with commitment and pride in SLTC. Every member of our community has a role to play in shaping an institution that values academic excellence, personal development, innovation, discipline and social responsibility.

Let November be a month of renewed purpose, positive experiences and collective achievement.

I wish you all a productive and fulfilling month of November 2026!

Warm regards,

Professor Chandrika Wijeyaratne
Vice Chancellor
