Vice Chancellor’s Monthly Message – March 2026

The March 2026 message highlights student engagement, digital innovation, upcoming examinations, staff dedication, and the shared commitment to excellence and unity at SLTC.

Dear Students and Members of Staff,

As we welcome the month of March 2026, I extend my warmest greetings to each one of you. The dawn of a new month offers us an opportunity to renew our sense of purpose and to entwine more deeply the values of commitment, resilience, and camaraderie that define the spirit of our university community. March marks several significant milestones in the life of our institution. Most notably, we witnessed the successful conduct of the first-ever student interactive society election through a fully digital platform. This achievement reflects not only our readiness to embrace innovation, but also the maturity, responsibility, and democratic engagement of our student body. I commend all those who contributed to making this historic initiative transparent, inclusive, and impactful.

Equally commendable was the completion of our recent major student social event, which was conducted in a memorable and friendly atmosphere. It was heartening to observe the enthusiasm, mutual respect, and unity displayed by our students. Such occasions remind us that university life extends beyond academic pursuit, nurturing lifelong friendships, leadership, and shared identity.

To our dear students, as you now prepare to face your forthcoming examinations, I urge you to do so with confidence, discipline, and focus. Your preparation today lays the foundation for your future achievements. On behalf of the entire staff, I encourage you to approach your studies with determination and self-belief, knowing that you have the full support and guidance of your teachers and the institution.

To our valued members of staff, I express my sincere gratitude for your unwavering dedication and commitment. On many occasions, you have gone beyond the call of duty to ensure the smooth functioning, academic excellence, and wellbeing of our university community. Your contributions form the backbone of our continued progress and reputation. I also look forward with great anticipation to the celebration of our Staff Day, which, though twice postponed, will undoubtedly serve as a meaningful occasion to recognise your invaluable service. As we move forward together, let us strengthen our shared resolve to work collaboratively toward a greater tomorrow. Let us continue to uphold the highest standards of excellence, integrity, and unity, and remain proud of our university and all that it represents.

I wish you all a productive, fulfilling, and successful month ahead.

Yours sincerely,

Prof. Chandrika Wijeyaratne
