Biography

S.M.U. Sasanga Samarakoon is attached to the Department of Mechatronic Engineering, Faculty of Engineering, Sri Lanka Technology Campus, where he serves as a lecturer (probation-S) and is also a research assistant at the Computational Intelligence and Robotics (CIR) Research Lab. He obtained his BSc (Hons) degree in mechatronic engineering from the Sri Lanka Technology Campus in 2023 and is currently reading for his MPhil at the same institution. His professional experience includes a position as a research and development engineer at Sentinel Systems (Pvt) Ltd. His research interests include Artificial Intelligence, Robotics, and Ambient Assisted Living. He has contributed to several peer-reviewed journal and IEEE conference publications and holds a patent for a caterpillar robot with visual perception capabilities, granted by the State Intellectual Property Office of China. His contributions have been recognized through institutional awards for research and innovation.
