Overview

The Bachelor of Science Honours in Business Analytics programme is designed to develop graduates with strong analytical, computational, and business decision-making skills. The programme integrates statistics, data science, machine learning, economics, and management to prepare students to analyze complex business problems using data-driven approaches. Students gain hands-on experience with analytical tools, programming, and real-world business applications, enabling them to support strategic decision-making in modern organizations.

Entry Requirements

I. At least three simple passes (S) in three subjects in Physical Science Stream in one and the same sitting at the G.C.E. (Advanced Level) Examination conducted by the Department of Examinations of Sri Lanka or equivalent qualification

OR

II. At least three simple passes (S) in two subjects in Physical Science Stream or Biology Stream or Commerce Stream and at least a simple pass (S) in Information and Communication Technology as the third subject at the same sitting at the G.C.E. (Advanced Level) Examination conducted by the Department of Examinations of Sri Lanka or equivalent qualification.

AND

At least a Credit Pass (C) in Mathematics at the G.C.E. (Ordinary Level) Examination conducted by the Department of Examinations of Sri Lanka.

Career Pathways

Graduates of the BSc (Hons) in Business Analytics programme can pursue diverse career pathways in data-driven industries. The programme equips students with strong foundations in statistics, programming, machine learning, and business decision-making, enabling them to work in roles that require analytical thinking and data interpretation.

Graduates may also pursue postgraduate studies in fields such as Data Science, Business Analytics, Artificial Intelligence, Statistics, or Management. The analytical and computational skills developed in the programme are highly valued across sectors such as banking, finance, insurance, retail, logistics, information technology, and consulting.

Graduates may work in analytical and decision-support roles within organizations, for example as data analysts, business analysts, analytics consultants, or business intelligence specialists etc. In addition, the strong quantitative and analytical foundation provided by the programme also enables graduates to pursue postgraduate studies and research in fields such as business analytics, data science, statistics, artificial intelligence, and management.
