Ms. Sachithra Yaddehige

Biography

Sachithra began her academic career at SLTC as a Research Assistant and has since progressed to her current role as the Head of the Department of Biosystems and Biotechnology, contributing to teaching, research, and academic development. She completed her PhD in Veterinary Science and Food Safety and an MSc in Biotechnologies for Food Science from the University of Padova, Italy, where she also served as a Teaching Assistant in Master’s degree programmes. She obtained her BSc (Eng) in Biosystems Engineering from the Asian Institute of Technology, Thailand. Sachithra maintains international research collaborations with the University of Padova and the National Research Council (CNR), Italy, focusing on bioinformatics and food science. Combining expertise in food science, programming, and bioinformatics, she aims to inspire students to explore interdisciplinary research that connects computational approaches with biological systems, fostering innovation and problem solving.
