Advancing SLTC’s Global Academic Excellence with VIT India

From 4–6 February 2026, the SLTC delegation visited Vellore Institute of Technology (VIT) – Chennai Campus, including the VIT Fashion Institute of Technology (VFIT). During this visit, the team engaged with VIT leadership and faculty in productive discussions on collaboration opportunities in creative education, applied research, and industry-integrated learning, aiming to foster innovation and future-ready talent in fashion and design. We would like to extend our sincere gratitude to the leadership and team at VIT Chennai, including Vice President Dr. G.V. Selvam, Vice Chancellor Dr. V.S. Kanchana Bhaaskaran, Prof. Seenivasan (Director of International Relations), Dr. J.N.V. Raghuram (Deputy Director of International Relations), Dr. J. He has been an influential contributor to national wildlife policy, biodiversity research, and environmental education. Mrs. Shiranee Yasaratne Former IUCN Country Representative & Immediate Past President of IEPSL Mrs. Yasaratne is a distinguished environmental professional in biodiversity conservation. She currently serves as a Senior Technical Advisor at Biodiversity Sri Lanka and is a proud recipient of the ZONTA Woman of Achievement award. Strengthening global partnerships and shaping new academic pathways

We were honored to welcome Prof. Yun‑Song Lai (Sichuan Agricultural University, China) to SLTC. During his visit, a productive discussion was held with Prof. Chandrika Wijeyaratne, Vice Chancellor of SLTC, on expanding future collaborations in student and staff exchanges, as well as joint research initiatives. Marking a significant milestone, Prof. Yun-Song Lai has been appointed as an Honorary Professor at SAERC and SLTC from January 2026, and officially received his appointment letter from the Prof. Chandrika Wijeyaratne, Vice Chancellor of SLTC during the visit. SLTC BBM Students Gain Hands-On Logistics Experience at Advantis – 3PL Plus

Third-year BBM (Hons) Supply Chain Management and BBM (Hons) Operations Management students at SLTC had the opportunity to visit Advantis – 3PL Plus, Kelaniya as part of the Inventory & Warehouse Management module . The visit provided students with firsthand exposure to key functions such as inbound handling, storage, order picking, packing, and dispatch. They also observed how technology-driven solutions are integrated to optimize warehouse and distribution activities, alongside practices in health, safety, and sustainability. The experience allowed students to translate theory into practice, providing them with a more grounded appreciation of logistics operations. A heartfelt thank you to Mr. Kasun Chathuranga, Mr. Pemal Daksith, and the entire Advantis – 3PL team for facilitating this valuable learning opportunity. Proud to see our students acquiring the knowledge and skills that will prepare them for impactful careers in the supply chain and operations industry.
