MBA Study Tour to India 2026: Industry Exposure & Global Academic Engagement

As part of the MBA programme, Sri Lanka Technology Campus (SLTC) successfully organized an academic and industrial study tour to India from 11–16 April 2026, providing students with valuable international exposure. A key highlight of the visit was the industry tour to Medha Servo Drives Private Limited in Hyderabad, a leading global provider of advanced propulsion and electronic systems for rolling stock. This experience offered students direct insight into industrial operations, technological innovation, and contemporary industry practices. The programme also included an academic visit to Vellore Institute of Technology, a leading technology-focused university in India, where students engaged with the Business School and were exposed to industry-aligned learning approaches. This included an understanding of how MBA education integrates business analytics, strategic thinking, and real-world case studies to meet evolving industry needs, further strengthening their global academic perspective and professional outlook. In addition, the students’ visit to Goa provided valuable exposure to tourism enhancing their understanding of tourism management concepts and marketing.  We are especially grateful to Mr. Vishnu Poodari, Manager – International Business, Medha Servo Drives Pvt Ltd, and Dr. R. Strength, Spirit and Success: SLTC Rugby Team Makes Its Mark

Sri Lanka Technology Campus (SLTC) continues to demonstrate its growing strength in university-level sports, as its rugby team delivered an impressive performance at the Mora 7’s Inter-University Rugby Tournament 2026. The tournament, organized by the University of Moratuwa, was held on 15th March 2026 at the Colombo Campus Grounds. It brought together competitive university rugby teams from across the country, providing a dynamic platform for student-athletes to showcase their talent, teamwork, and resilience. Competing with determination and discipline, the SLTC rugby team emerged as Plate Runners Up, marking a significant achievement for the team. Their performance throughout the tournament reflected strong coordination, tactical awareness, and a collective commitment to excellence. The result highlights the team’s steady progress and reinforces SLTC’s presence in the inter-university rugby arena. Leading the team from the front was Captain Sajith Nayakarathna, an undergraduate of the BSc (Hons) Civil Engineering programme. His leadership played a crucial role in guiding the team through the challenges of the tournament, fostering unity, discipline, and a strong team spirit. Supporting him was Vice Captain Lakshitha Abewickrama, who is currently pursuing a BSc (Hons) in Electronic and Power Systems Engineering. His contribution to maintaining team coordination and motivation was instrumental in the team’s overall performance. The SLTC rugby squad represents a diverse and talented group of students from multiple academic disciplines, reflecting the university’s inclusive and multidisciplinary culture. The team members include Sajith Nayakarathna (Captain), Lakshitha Abewickrama (Vice Captain), Lakshitha Senevirathna, J.A.D.T.J. Jayasinghe, A.R. Aathif Juman, H.B. Janith Dilshan, N.W.M. Kavindu Isuranga, E.G.B. Ekanayake, M. Sharith Randitha, A.N. Anjana, Y.S.P.Y.S. Mendis, W.M.S.H.S. Premasiri, A.V.D. Amarathunga, M.H. Manuja Kavinda, K.R.M.T.P. Rathnayeka, P.B.M.K.D.C.S. Basnayaka, G.K.S. Prabhath, R.G.K.I.K. Rajapaksha, Dilan Damsara, Kavindu Madusan, P.M. Shashendra Maduranga, L.S.S. Fernando, and Himansa Alwis. Their representation across fields such as Engineering, Cyber Security, Software Engineering, Agricultural Technology, Supply Chain Management, Environmental Technology, Travel and Tourism, Electronic Technology, and Bio Systems Engineering highlights the diversity and unity within the team. Beyond their success on the field, the team’s achievement is particularly commendable given their ability to balance academic responsibilities with the demands of competitive sport. Despite rigorous training sessions and match commitments, the players have remained dedicated to their studies, demonstrating strong time management, discipline, and perseverance. The Mora 7’s tournament experience not only tested the team’s athletic ability but also contributed to their personal growth, leadership development, and team cohesion. Their journey reflects the core values of SLTC, where students are encouraged to excel both academically and in extracurricular pursuits. Reflecting on the achievement, Captain Sajith Nayakarathna stated, “It is a great honour to represent Sri Lanka Technology Campus on the rugby field. Competing in tournaments was both challenging and rewarding, and each experience helped us grow stronger as a team. I am proud of the dedication, discipline, and unity shown by every player throughout the tournament. I am also proud to lead this team and grateful for the encouragement and support extended by the university, which has been a constant source of motivation in our journey.” This accomplishment stands as a testament to the dedication and hard work of the entire team. Triple Gold Glory for SLTC at Aquaclash 2026 

Sri Lanka Technology Campus continues to make waves in the national university sports arena, as  one of its students recently delivered an exceptional performance at a major inter-university  swimming championship, bringing pride and recognition to the institution.  Navod Sebastian, an undergraduate of the BSc (Hons) Telecommunications Engineering  programme, emerged as the standout athlete at the SLIIT Aquaclash Inter-University Swimming  Championship 2026, organized by SLIIT and held at the SLIIT Aquatics Center. The  championship saw participation from 13 universities and over 180 competitors, making his  achievements even more remarkable.  Demonstrating extraordinary skill, discipline, and consistency, Navod secured first place in all  three of his main events. He claimed victory in the 50m breaststroke with a time of 30.99 seconds,  setting a new meet record. He continued his dominance in the 100m breaststroke, finishing first  with another record-breaking time of 1:10.15. In the 200m breaststroke event, he once again  secured first place with an impressive time of 2:42.56.  His outstanding performances across all breaststroke categories earned him the prestigious titles  of Individual Champion, with a total of 30 points, and Best Breaststroker of the tournament.  Notably, his two new meet records further solidified his position as one of the most promising  university-level swimmers in the country.  Navod’s achievement is not just a personal milestone but also a reflection of SLTC’s growing  excellence in sports. His victory highlights the university’s commitment to nurturing well-rounded  students who excel both academically and in extracurricular activities.  Beyond his success in the pool, Navod has consistently demonstrated leadership and dedication.  He served as the Vice President of the Sports Council of the year 2024/25 and is the Captain of  the SLTC Swimming Team. His contributions to university sports have previously been  recognized with University Colors and Special Awards in 2024, further showcasing his  commitment to excellence.  Speaking about his journey, Navod emphasized the importance of perseverance and hard work.  “No shortcuts. Just discipline and grind,” he stated, reflecting the mindset that has driven him to  achieve success at such a competitive level.  His victory serves as an inspiration to fellow students, proving that balancing academics with high level sports is not only possible but can lead to exceptional outcomes. It also reinforces the  importance of dedication, time management, and resilience in achieving one’s goals.  The SLTC community has warmly celebrated this achievement, recognizing it as a proud moment  for the university. Such accomplishments contribute significantly to enhancing the university’s  reputation on national platforms and motivate other students to actively engage in sports and  extracurricular pursuits.  As SLTC continues to invest in sports development and student talent, achievements like Navod  Sebastian’s victory at the SLIIT Aquaclash 2026 stand as a testament to the university’s vision of  producing graduates who are not only academically competent but also capable of excelling on  broader stages.  With this remarkable performance, Navod has set a new benchmark for university swimmers and  has undoubtedly positioned himself as a strong contender for future national and international  competitions.
