Bridging Theory with Practice: SLTC Students Visit Bandaranaike International Airport

Our final-year BBM (Hons) Supply Chain Management students at SLTC had the incredible opportunity to visit Bandaranaike International Airport as part of the Import and Export Management module. This hands-on field visit provided first-hand exposure to both air cargo and passenger operations—two critical components of international aviation that drive global trade, connectivity, and economic development. By observing cargo handling procedures and understanding passenger terminal operations, students were able to effectively bridge classroom theory with real-world logistics and transport management practices. A heartfelt thank you to Mr. Aruna Rajapaksha, Head of Airport Management; Mr. Shalutha R. Rathnayake, Airport Manager / Public Relations Correspondence – Special Projects; Mr. Rajitha Medawewa, Head of Air Freight Management & Cargo, AASL; Mr. W.A.D.B. Thushara, Senior Manager; Mr. Buddhika Warnasuriya, Acting Manager; and Mr. Chitrananda Jayasekera, Cargo Duty Manager (Training), SriLankan Airlines, along with the entire team, for making this valuable learning experience possible and for supporting our mission to empower students with practical industry knowledge. Proud to guide the next generation of supply chain professionals toward excellence in global trade and logistics.
