The Digital Entrepreneurship Development, Island-Wide 2-Day Workshop Series, organized by the Department of Manpower and Employment in collaboration with Future Lanka Research & Development Foundation, is a key initiative aimed at empowering vocational students with essential digital and entrepreneurial skills. The workshops are designed to enhance digital literacy, equip students with entrepreneurship knowledge, and bridge the gap between technical training and business innovation. One of the workshops, held at the Technical College Gampaha, focused on providing practical insights into digital entrepreneurship. Key resource personnel included Mr. Dian Baduge, Director of Future Lanka Research & Development Foundation, and Dr. Nicholoy Gurusinghe, Head of the Department of Electrical Engineering at SLTC Research University. Their sessions encouraged students to think creatively and leverage digital tools for entrepreneurial success, offering practical exercises and interactive discussions. The students gained hands-on experience in managing digital ventures and learned how to navigate the challenges of the modern digital economy, making the workshop a crucial stepping stone in their entrepreneurial journeys.

The IFSLS workshop in Puttalam offered valuable insights into the Government’s Interest-Free Student Loan Scheme, providing students, including those from Tamil and Muslim communities, with the information they need to access this financial support. SLTC Student Counsellors were on hand to guide students through the process, highlighting the importance of accessible education for all across the country. This initiative reinforces SLTC’s mission to provide equal access to higher education for all, empowering students from diverse communities to pursue a debt-free degree in fields like engineering, IT, and business, and ensuring that every student, from every region, has the chance to shape a successful future.

A team of dedicated SLTC representatives engaged with the students, providing detailed information about university enrollment and the various programs available. Mr. Mohamed Affkhar, Head of University Enrollments, delivered an informative session about the enrollment process and the importance of choosing the right course. This collaborative effort not only equipped students with essential information but also inspired them to think critically about their future careers and educational opportunities.

The SkillUp Youth Empowerment Program in collaboration with Future Lanka Research and Development Foundation and the Presidential Office was held at Ananda College, providing an enriching experience for students eager to develop their soft skills and entrepreneurial mindset. A standout feature of the event was the participation of Dr. Lakshitha Pahalagedara, Dean of the Faculty of Postgraduate and Research at SLTC, who served as an influential panelist. Dr. Pahalagedara shared his extensive knowledge on the significance of research and innovation in today’s competitive landscape. He inspired the students to pursue their passions and think creatively about their career paths, highlighting the value of critical thinking and resilience. His engaging presentation encouraged students to ask questions and engage in thoughtful discussions, creating an interactive and dynamic learning environment. This session not only equipped students with practical insights but also motivated them to take proactive steps toward their futures. The Robotics Inspiration Session at St. Bridget’s Convent was an exciting and engaging opportunity for primary students to explore the world of robotics. The event was designed to inspire curiosity and creativity, giving the young girls a hands-on experience with technology. Students participated in a variety of activities, from learning the basics of programming to assembling simple robots, providing them with a solid introduction to robotics. Throughout the session, the girls worked in teams, learning the importance of collaboration and communication while solving fun challenges together. The practical nature of the activities allowed them to see how robots can be programmed to perform tasks, sparking their interest in science and technology. The workshop for Interest Free Student Loan Scheme for A-Level students organized by the Divisional Secretariat Office at Ingiriya, in collaboration with SLTC, served as a valuable platform for students to gain insights into future academic and career paths. SLTC representatives, Mr. Prasanna Rathnasinghe, Manager of External Outreach, and Ms. Sachini Somarathne, Student Counsellor, played key roles in guiding students on how to make informed decisions about higher education and personal development.
