Prof. Veranja Karunaratne, SLT Campus Vice Chancellor and Chairman of the National Science and Technology Commission, represented Sri Lanka at the Global Digital Compact (GDC) regional consultation hosted by Bangladesh and the BIMSTEC Secretariat on June 22-23. The meeting aimed to align regional priorities and strengthen a unified stance on digital technologies ahead of UN negotiations in New York.
Government officials and experts from BIMSTEC member states participated to discuss the opportunities and challenges of digital technology. The goals were to develop a shared vision for the GDC, exchange ideas, and create actionable recommendations for the ongoing UN negotiation process.
