Dr. Lakshitha Pahalagedara, who is the Dean of the Faculty of Postgraduate Studies & Research at SLTC, recently participated in the National Career Guidance Podcast, Episode 6. SLTC and University of Bremen Foster Intellectual Exchange

This alliance was cemented through a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) signed on February 6, marking a milestone in the universities’ shared commitment to bolster academic ties, foster cooperation, and enhance internationalization efforts. The University of Évora, a public university located in Évora, Portugal, is the second oldest university in the country. Established in 1559, the university has a rich history and a strong commitment to providing an education that combines honest study with long experience. MSc Programmes Offered by SLTC in Partnership with Liverpool John Moores University, UK 

The SLTC Research University, Colombo is calling for applications from suitable candidates for Master of Science programmes offered in partnership with Liverpool John Moores University, UK (LJMU). Under this partnership, SLTC offers two specialised postgraduate programmes, MSc in Embedded Systems and IC Design, MSc in Wireless Communications. TEAL 2.0 Fourth Collaboration and Joint Development Workshop in Thailand

The TEAL 2.0 Fourth Collaboration and Joint Development Workshop took place from the 3rd to the 5th of April 2023 at the AIT Conference Center in Thailand. The workshop brought together members from University of Peradeniya, Asian Institute of Technology – Thailand, Indian Institute of Information Technology, Allahabad – India, Vellore Institute of Technology – India, University of Bologna – Italy, University of Stavanger – Norway, University of Moratuwa, Naresuan University – Thailand, Sri Lanka Technological Campus (SLTC), European Center for Quality – Bulgaria, Transilvania University – Romania, RK University – India. TEAL 2.O focuses on “Improving the access to science and technology higher education in resource-poor institutions through an open platform for technology-enabled active learning environment”. The overall objective of the project is to improve access to high-quality and global-oriented S&T higher education in the Partner Countries through a cloud-based, open-access collaborative teaching & learning platform, and to build institutional capacities for providing high-quality Open and Distance Education (ODE) in S&T areas for a wide and diverse group of learners. SLTC members who participated in the workshop included Dr. Lasith Yasakethu, Ms. Swapna Premasiri, Mr. Charith Jayanetti, Mr. Niuru Ranaweera and Ms Tharanga Madubashini. Workshop covered three main topics: Progress and Sustainability, TEAL platform training and sharing, and next-step planning and project management issues. Participants reviewed progress and identified areas for improvement, discussed effective training and use of the platform, and shared insights on managing projects and improving collaboration. Strategies were developed to address challenges and ensure the long-term viability of the TEAL platform. Overall, the TEAL 2.0 Fourth Collaboration and Joint Development Workshop was a valuable opportunity for SLTC members to come together and share their experiences and insights to build a sustainable and effective TEAL platform.

Sinhala and Tamil New Year Celebration 2023

SLTC Research University commenced work on the 17th of April celebrating Sinhala and Tamil New Year traditions as one family with the participation of staff and student interactive society representatives. Addressing the gathering the leadership of the university expressed their thoughts about the unique rituals and the traditions that make Sinhala and Tamil new year special and memorable and how it merges with work life experiences and balance. The Sinhala and Tamil New Year is one of the most important and awaited celebrations in Sri Lanka. Referred to as the Aluth Avurudda by the Sinhalese and Puthandu by the Tamil community, this is celebrated as the sun moves from Pisces to Aries marking the end of the harvest season. This joyous occasion is an annual expression of the rich culture of the multi-ethnic island nation. Through the many interesting customs, delicious traditional sweetmeats and food and the fun activities, this time of the year creates an opportunity for all Sri Lankans to unite, offer gratitude and celebrate as one.
