SLTC at the Colombo Regional Event of the100th Year Quantum Anniversary!

SLTC was proud to be a part of the Colombo event of the 100th Year Quantum Anniversary Project, held on 11th September 2025 at BMICH. The event was organized by the Future Lanka Research and Development Foundation. The event, themed “Employability in the Quantum Era – Tomorrow’s Careers in Engineering, Life Sciences & Sustainability,” brought together over 400 A/L Science students from leading schools in the Western Province. SLTC’s presence was highlighted by the participation of our esteemed Council Member, Prof. Rosa, who joined the panel discussion and shared his thoughts on “How Quantum Science has Helped Shape Modern Careers”. In addition to the panel discussion, SLTC actively engaged with students through its exhibition space, where STEM-related innovations and interactive demonstrations were showcased. Our representatives interacted with attendees, guiding them on future-ready career pathways and opportunities in science, technology, and engineering. This event was a powerful platform to inspire the next generation of scientists, engineers, and innovators to thrive in the quantum era.

SLTC BBM Students Gain First-Hand Exposure to Air Cargo Operations at BIA

Our final-year BBM (Hons) Supply Chain Management & Operations Management students had the privilege of visiting Bandaranaike International Airport (BIA) as part of their Import and Export Management module. The field visit offered students a unique opportunity to experience air cargo operations, an essential link in the global supply chain that ensures the smooth flow of goods across international borders. By observing cargo handling processes in action, students were able to bridge theoretical knowledge with practical industry insights in real-world logistics. We extend our heartfelt appreciation to Mr. Chitrananda Jayasekera, Mr. Rajatha Medawewa, Mr. W.A.D.B. Thushara, and the BIA team for their invaluable support in making this experience possible. At SLTC, we remain committed to shaping industry-ready graduates and guiding the next generation of supply chain professionals to excel in the dynamic world of global trade and logistics.

Building Leaders Beyond the Classroom

The SLTC MBA community gathered on 30th August 2025 at Che Adventure Park for an inspiring Outbound Training Programme. The program was designed to go beyond classroom learning, immersing students in team challenges, leadership tasks, and adventure-based activities that enhanced their collaboration, resilience, and problem-solving skills – key attributes of impactful business leaders. This memorable experience not only strengthened bonds within the MBA cohort but also provided valuable lessons in leadership and adaptability. Visitors had the opportunity to engage with cutting-edge ideas and creative solutions presented by our talented students and staff, highlighting the exciting future of agriculture and biosystems engineering. This milestone achievement was made possible through the dedicated efforts of the Department of Agricultural Technology and the Department of Biosystems Engineering, who worked hand in hand to showcase the transformative potential of technology in shaping the future of agriculture. Their contributions reflected not only academic excellence but also SLTC’s commitment to real-world innovation. SLTC at Nova Expo – Vidyarathna University College, Horana

The SLTC Admissions and Outreach Team was glad to be a part of the Nova Expo held at Vidyarathna University College, Horana from 27th to 30th August. Throughout the event, the team supported students by sharing insights about the wide range of programs available at SLTC and offering career guidance to help them select suitable higher education pathways. The initiative provided an excellent platform to connect with students, understand their aspirations, and guide them toward making confident and informed academic choices. By contributing to events like Nova Expo, SLTC continues to strengthen its bond with schools and students across the country, empowering the next generation to explore opportunities and take their next steps toward success.

Shaping tomorrow’s leaders today with SkillUp Sri Lanka

The SkillUp Sri Lanka Career Guidance Session, conducted in collaboration with the Future Lanka Research and Development Foundation, was held today at St. Anne’s Balika Maha Vidyalaya, Wattala, with the goal of inspiring and guiding students to make informed decisions about their academic and professional futures. The session featured Mr. Asitha Sanjaya Kumara Wijayawardena, Senior Lecturer and Head of the Department of Software Engineering from the Faculty of Computing and IT at SLTC. With his wealth of expertise, he shared valuable insights into the rapidly evolving fields of technology, software engineering, and digital innovation, helping students understand the exciting opportunities that lie ahead in these industries. Throughout his session, Mr. Wijayawardena emphasized the importance of developing essential skills, embracing creativity and innovation, and preparing to thrive in a world that is increasingly driven by digital transformation. He also provided practical guidance on higher education pathways and how students can align their personal strengths with their career aspirations to achieve long-term success. Industry Expert Shares Management Accounting Insights at SLTC

The Faculty of Business Management at SLTC Technology Campus, in collaboration with CMA Sri Lanka, hosted a guest lecture for 2nd-year undergraduates of the Management Accounting module. The session was delivered by Mr. Mohamed Intikab Bin Ali, a seasoned professional and visionary leader in Business and Accounting with over 20 years of industry experience. His insightful presentation gave students valuable exposure to modern management accounting practices and their importance in today’s dynamic business environment. SLTC Signs MOU with SLIM to Empower Future Marketers

The Sri Lanka Institute of Marketing (SLIM) and SLTC’s Faculty of Business Management, in collaboration with the Department of Marketing, have entered into a landmark Memorandum of Understanding at the SLTC main premises. This partnership opens doors for students to gain SLIM memberships, scholarships, fast-track certifications, and invaluable industry exposure through SLIM’s extensive network. It also offers professional development opportunities for lecturers, strengthening ties between academia and the business sector. As Sri Lanka’s marketing industry continues to expand, this collaboration aims to equip SLTC students with the skills, experience, and professional connections needed to excel in the competitive marketplace.

Business Management Students Gain Industry Insights in Avissawella

The Department of Accounting and Finance, Faculty of Business Management, recently organized an insightful field visit for second-year undergraduates, aimed at bridging classroom learning with real-world industry practices. Students had the opportunity to explore the manufacturing processes at MAS Kreeda Synergy and Lanka Minerals & Chemicals (Pvt) Ltd, two leading companies based in the Avissawella Industrial Zone. The visit was led by Prof. Hilary Silva, Dean of the Faculty of Business Management, accompanied by faculty lecturers. This initiative not only provided students with hands-on exposure to industry operations but also strengthened SLTC’s partnerships with key industry players, paving the way for future collaborations and learning opportunities.
