SLTC Strengthens Access to Higher Education Through IFSLS Session in Kegalla

SLTC continued its island-wide outreach efforts with an IFSLS awareness session at the District Secretariat Office, Kegalla.The session was conducted by Mr. Mohamed Affkhar, Head of Sales, who guided students through each stage of the IFSLS application. He elaborated on the study options available at SLTC and explained how the interest-free loan model supports students from diverse educational backgrounds. The program helped students understand the long-term value of planning their academic futures early.

Colombo A/L Students Receive Clear Guidance on IFSLS Opportunities Through SLTC

SLTC participated in the IFSLS awareness initiative held at the District Secretariat Office, Colombo, providing A/L students with a structured understanding of the scheme.The session was led by Dr. Amila Vayanganie, Head of the Department of Actuarial Science and Financial Analytics, from the Faculty of Science, who explained the application steps, key deadlines, and how students can align their interests with SLTC’s degree pathways. Students also received insights into selecting programs based on career goals, ensuring the session served as a comprehensive guide for their university planning.

SLTC Engages Trincomalee Students in an In-Depth IFSLS Awareness Program

SLTC participated in the IFSLS (Interest Free Student Loan Scheme) awareness program organized by the Ministry of Higher Education and the District Secretariat Office in Trincomalee.Representing SLTC, Outreach Consultant Mr. Aruna Dayananda conducted a detailed session where students were taken through the complete IFSLS application process, eligibility requirements, and documentation guidelines. He also introduced the wide range of SLTC degree programs accessible through the scheme. The session ensured students gained clarity on the financial and academic advantages the IFSLS offers, helping them plan the next steps of their higher education journey.

International Research Conference 2025 Marks Its 5th Edition at SLTC

International Research Conference 2025 (IRC2025) celebrated its 5th edition as the annual flagship event of SLTC, organized by the Office of Research and Innovation (ORIS) under the Faculty of Postgraduate Studies and Research (FPSR). Held under the theme “Unified by Innovation – Exploring the Digital Frontiers Across Disciplines,” IRC2025 advanced interdisciplinary research in alignment with Sri Lanka’s national digitalization strategy. The conference brought together global experts, researchers, and innovators across 12 thematic areas, spanning science, engineering, business, social sciences, and the creative industries—collectively strengthening Sri Lanka’s digital future. 👤 Chief Guest H.E. The conference, held on 12th and 13th November, took place at both the SLTC City Campus in TRACE, Sri Lanka, and the SLTC Residential Campus in Padukka. Prof. Marcelo Fabián of UOC Visits SLTC to Strengthen International Academic Collaboration

We were honoured to welcome Prof. Marcelo Fabián from the Universitat Oberta de Catalunya (UOC), Spain, to Sri Lanka Technology Campus on 17th November 2025. His visit brought valuable insights into digital education, learning innovation, and international collaboration, areas that strongly align with SLTC’s vision for future-ready higher education. During his interactions with our Vice Chancellor, Academic and administrative teams, Prof. Fabián shared inspiring perspectives on digital pedagogy, micro-credentials, and the evolving role of technology in shaping student-centred learning ecosystems. His experience in leading global capacity-building initiatives added immense value to our ongoing Erasmus+ and internationalization efforts. This visit marks an important step toward deepening academic cooperation and exploring new opportunities for joint projects, and professional development for our staff. We extend our sincere appreciation to Prof. Marcelo Fabián for spending time with us and, we look forward to growing this collaboration in future.

SLTC Research & Innovation Awards 2025: Research That Matters – For Society & Beyond

On 12th November at BMICH, the Sri Lanka Technology Campus (SLTC) proudly hosted SLTC Research & Innovation Awards 2025, an evening dedicated to recognizing impactful research & innovative contributions that advance society and industry. The event brought together leading academics, researchers, students, entrepreneurs, and industry partners committed to driving knowledge-based progress. The ceremony was presided over by Prof. Chandrika Wijeyaratne, Vice Chancellor, and Dr. Lakshitha Pahalagedara, Chairperson of the Organizing Committee and Dean, Faculty of Postgraduate Studies & Research. The Guest of Honour, Mr. Krishan Bhalendra, Chairman of the Ceylon Chamber of Commerce, joined distinguished attendees including H.E. Dr. Purna Bahadur Nepali, representatives of the Indian and U.S. Embassies, Mr. Mangala Wijesinghe (Chairman, EDB), Mr. Dilith Jayaweera (Co-founder & Chairman, Derana Media Network), Prof. Lai Yun-Song, Eng. Mangala Yapa, and Mr. Asela Iddawela. The Awards were held with the strategic partnership of the Sri Lanka Export Development Board (EDB) and the official electronic media partnership of Derana Media Network, whose support was instrumental in highlighting the achievements of all participants. With over 100 applications received, more than 40 awards were presented at the ceremony across Industry, University, and Faculty-level categories. Special Recognition Awards celebrated research with societal impact. The Green Impact Award went to MAS Intimates, while the Inclusive Growth Award went to Aadivaasi. Staff award highlights included Dr. Lasith Yasakethu, recognized with the University-Level Gold award, and Dr. Lakshitha Pahalagedara, honoured with a Faculty-Level Distinction, alongside Merit and Honours awardees who demonstrated exceptional research outputs in their respective fields. Student awards highlighted Ms. W. M. T. Imasha Wijesundara (Distinguished) and Ms. Ashini Sithmini Rupasinghe (Best Inventor). SLTC congratulates all awardees for their exceptional contributions.
