SkillUp Sri Lanka took a significant step in shaping the future of aspiring professionals at Newstead Girls College by offering valuable career guidance through one episode of the Youth Empowerment Program. Mr. Udara Rathnayake, a lecturer in Fashion & Textiles from the Faculty of Science at SLTC, participated as a panellist and shared his extensive knowledge and insights on the fashion industry. Dr. Dimithri Jayagoda from the Faculty of Business Management at SLTC Research University conducted a valuable Career Development Workshop at the Awissawella Town Hall. Joining him was Corporate Trainer Mr. Maqshood, who provided additional insights and expertise. Tourism & Hospitality students from batches 2025A and 2025B at SLTC Research University organized an insightful panel discussion on ‘Destination Marketing Excellence’ at Trace Campus. The event featured distinguished industry experts Dr. Rohantha Athukorala, President of Clootrack and former Chairman of Sri Lanka Tourism, and Prof. Maduka Udunuwara, Senior Lecturer at the University of Colombo. SLTC Research University participated in the X-Ban Educational Exhibition and Carnival, held over five days and organized by the Old Boys’ Association of Gampaha Bandaranayake College. This event provided a valuable opportunity for SLTC to present its wide range of academic programs to students and visitors. At the exhibition, SLTC featured interactive displays and shared information about its courses and career opportunities. The university’s presence allowed attendees to learn more about the practical aspects of higher education offered at SLTC, fostering engaging discussions and building connections with the community.

SLTC Research University is proud to contribute to the “SkillUp National Youth Empowerment Project,” an initiative led by the Future Lanka Research and Development Foundation in collaboration with the Presidential Office. Empowering young minds through the art of debate! SLTC facilitated a Debate Competition and Workshop hosted by the Tamil Debater’s Council at Wijayaratnam Hindu Central College. This event provided students with a valuable opportunity to develop their critical thinking and persuasive speaking skills while engaging in cultural exchange. Our 4th-year Strategic Management students had an incredible opportunity to organize and participate in a field visit to Lanka Milk Food Company. On July 16, 2024, we toured their factory in Welisara, where students got an up-close look at milk food processing and manufacturing facilities, renowned for their high quality and safety standards. This visit was part of our continuous assessment for the Strategic Management module. Our students gained insights into complex processes and unique business models that go beyond textbook learning.
