Celebrating a Greener Future: Agreement Signing with First Energy SL (Pvt) Limited

On May 7, 2024, SLTC had the pleasure of hosting the signing ceremony for the Rooftop Solar Project, awarded to First Energy SL (Pvt) Limited. This 370 kWp project marks a significant step towards sustainable energy. The agreement was signed by our Vice Chancellor, Mr. N.L. Veranja Vipul Karunaratne, and the Managing Director(First Energy SL (Pvt) Limited), Mr. Prabath Wickramasinghe . Together, we are committed to fostering a greener future.

SLTC Forges Strategic Partnerships with Leading Companies for Student Internships and Career Readiness

In a continued commitment to enhancing career readiness and fostering industry connections, SLTC Research University (SLTC) has recently signed three more Memorandums of Understanding (MoUs) with three esteemed companies: Engenuity Telco Pvt Ltd, Fidenz Pvt Ltd, and Venora Lanka Power Panels (Pvt.) Ltd. These strategic agreements are poised to provide invaluable internship opportunities for SLTC students, with the potential for permanent employment based on their performance. They provide electrical panel boards to mega projects locally and export to countries such as Bangladesh, Maldives, Kenya, Ethiopia, Seychelles, and Myanmar. These collaborations will empower SLTC students, equipping them with practical experience and enhancing their employability upon graduation.

In a significant stride towards bolstering career readiness initiatives, SLTC Research University (SLTC) has achieved a noteworthy milestone by formalizing Memorandums of Understanding (MoUs) with three prominent companies: Aklan International Pvt Ltd, Magicbits Pvt Ltd, and Effective Solutions Pvt Ltd. These strategic agreements aim to provide SLTC students with invaluable internship opportunities, with the potential for permanent employment based on their performance. The MoU signing event, held at the SLTC Residential Campus in Padukka, brought together distinguished attendees, including representatives from the partnering companies and esteemed SLTC lecturers. Through these collaborations, SLTC seeks to tailor internship programs to meet the specific needs of students based on their degree programs. By gaining practical experience and valuable insights into their respective industries, students enhance their employability upon graduation. About the Partner Companies Effective Solutions Pvt Ltd Effective Solutions, a renowned brand and award-winning company in Sri Lanka, has earned the trust of numerous manufacturing and service industries for its delivery of high-quality, innovative technological solutions. With a track record of continuous growth and expansion into international markets, Effective Solutions brings robust research and development capabilities to the table. Charith Vithanage, Chief Operating Officer (COO) of Effective Solutions, played a pivotal role in signing the MoU with SLTC. This collaboration underscores Effective Solutions’ confidence in SLTC graduates and its commitment to nurturing talent for the benefit of future professionals. Additionally, Effective Solutions Pvt has previously offered internships to SLTC students and conducted career readiness programs since 2022, further solidifying their dedication to talent development and industry engagement. Magicbits Pvt Ltd Magicbits Pvt Ltd stands out for its high-end features and unique blend of hardware and software support. The company empowers students across various domains, including coding, electronics, IoT, robotics, and AI. Magicbits provides extensive creative exploration opportunities at an affordable rate. Migara Amithodhana, CEO and Co-founder of Magicbits, signed an MoU with SLTC to offer internship opportunities. Magicbits has already demonstrated its commitment to talent nurturing by providing permanent employment positions to SLTC graduates. Aklan International Pvt Ltd Eng Ravi Rupasinghe signed the MoU with SLTC. Since 2020, SLTC students have had the privilege of undertaking internships at Aklan International Pvt Ltd, a testament to the company’s proactive stance towards nurturing talent. This collaboration not only provides students with invaluable hands-on experience but also reinforces Aklan International’s dedication to fostering industry-ready graduates. Prof Veranja Karunaratne, Vice Chancellor of SLTC, expressed confidence in the efficacy of these partnerships. He emphasized their role in bridging the gap between academia and industry, stating, “This initiative marks the beginning of a sustained effort to forge meaningful collaborations with our industry partners. We are committed to providing our students with the skills and experiences necessary to thrive in today’s competitive job market.”

WORKSHOP ON ‘HOW TO MAKE CHANGE HAPPEN’

A successful workshop for our Academic and Non-Academic staff in Admin positions on “How to Make Change Happen”; a crucial and timely topic in contemporary business organizations. The workshop was conducted by Mr. Deepal Sooriyaarachchi a renowned corporate trainer and chartered marketer in the country. This is an initiative of the ERASMUS+ ENACT Project Team of SLTC.

Study Guide for Aspiring Innovators

Dr. Lakshitha Pahalagedara, who is the Dean of the Faculty of Postgraduate Studies & Research at SLTC, recently participated in the National Career Guidance Podcast, Episode 6. The title of the episode is ‘Study Guide for Aspiring Innovators,’ and it is a comprehensive resource that features insights from Dr. Lakshitha Pahalagedara, Dr. Angelo Karunaratne, who is the Head of Technology Development & Strategic Operations at Soft matter MAS, Dr. Dulini Mudunkotuwa, who is the Head of the Department of Mechanical Engineering at the University of Sri Jayawardenepura, and Mr. Dian Baduge, who is the Director of Future Lanka Research and Development Foundation.

SLTC and University of Bremen Foster Intellectual Exchange

In an exciting development that underscores the power of international academic collaboration, Prof. Anna Förster from the University of Bremen, Germany, is currently visiting SLTC Research University in Sri Lanka. This visit is part of a staff exchange program under the Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) between the two universities, fostering a true exchange of ideas and cultures. The University of Bremen, a public university located in Bremen, Germany, is home to approximately 23,500 people from 115 countries. Established in 1971, the university has a rich history and a strong commitment to providing an education that combines honest study with long experience. Today, the University of Bremen is recognized as one of the most significant and top universities in Germany. As part of the staff exchange program, Prof. Dr. Anna Förster is shared her insights on Sustainable Communication Networks at SLTC. This exchange program is a testament to the universities’ shared commitment to fostering a global learning environment that transcends geographical boundaries.
