The final-year students of the SLTC Department of Music delivered a spectacular stage performance that marked the culmination of their academic and artistic journey. From hours of practice to an unforgettable showcase, the event celebrated their talent, dedication, and passion for music. This wasn’t just a performance-it was a heartfelt expression of years of learning, creativity, and collaboration. The stage came alive with powerful vocals, vibrant instrumentals, and original compositions, leaving the audience inspired and moved. We applaud our students for their exceptional artistry and look forward to the musical milestones they will achieve in the future.

Launching Futures: University Meets Corporate

SLTC recently hosted an inspiring Industry Awareness Session under the theme “Launching Futures: University Meets Corporate,” bringing together academia and industry in a powerful exchange of knowledge. Marketing undergraduates in their third and fourth years had the unique opportunity to engage with industry leaders, including Mr. Upul Kumarasinghe and Mr. Sandeep Holey, Country Head of the Aditya Birla Group. The session offered valuable insights into corporate expectations, industry trends, and career readiness – equipping students with the knowledge and motivation to navigate their professional journeys confidently. With over 40 enthusiastic students participating, the event served as a bridge between classroom learning and real-world application. A sincere thank you goes out to our guest speakers and all who contributed to making the session a remarkable success.

Academic Excellence: SLTC Judges at Debate Quarter Finals

The Quarter Finals of the Quantum Century Debate Championship, organized by the Future Lanka Research and Development Foundation in collaboration with the University of Sri Jayewardenepura, showcased some of the most talented young debaters in the country. Two esteemed members of the SLTC academic community served as judges at this prestigious event; Mr. Udara Rathnayake from the Faculty of Science and Ms. Theja Enderaarachchi from the Faculty of Business Management. Their participation highlights SLTC’s continued commitment to supporting critical thinking, academic excellence, and student development across national platforms.

SLTC Academics Join as Judges at Quantum Century Debate Championship

The first round of the Quantum Century Debate Championship, organized by the Future Lanka Research and Development Foundation in collaboration with the University of Sri Jayawardenapura, took place on the 24th of June at the university’s Faculty of Engineering. Representing SLTC, Mr. Sahan Ravidu from the Department of Civil Engineering and Ms. Saradhika Manjaree from the Department of Industrial Management, Faculty of Engineering, were invited to serve as judges for this prestigious event. Their contribution highlights SLTC’s growing academic presence and active involvement in national-level academic and intellectual forums.

A Message from the Vice Chancellor

Professor Chandrika  Wijeyaratne, Vice Chancellor of SLTC, addresses the university community with a reaffirmation of SLTC’s commitment to academic excellence, student-centered learning, and institutional transparency. In her message, she outlines the steps taken to strengthen quality assurance and clarifies SLTC’s position regarding the BAIT program, emphasizing corrective actions and accountability. She also calls for collective cooperation in upholding discipline, integrity, and responsible engagement within the university.

BAIT (Bachelor of Applied IT) – Curriculum Alignment and Remedial Workshop Plan

The Curriculum Alignment and Remedial Workshop for this degree programme will commence on 7th July 2025. This workshop is primarily designed to strengthen foundational and advanced concepts relevant to the curriculum. It will mainly focus on: Linux Open-Source Operating System Shell Scripting and Bash Scripting (Basic to Advanced) Python Programming Building AI Applications Using Python Object-Oriented Programming (OOP) — taught from scratch, guiding participants through the process of designing and coding a complete application. This workshop aims to bridge any learning gaps and ensure students are aligned with foundation skills required for future modules.

SLTC Participates in Career Guidance Session at Seethawaka Divisional Secretariat, Hanwella

SLTC recently took part in a Career Guidance session organized at the Seethawaka Divisional Secretariat Office in Hanwella. The session was aimed at empowering students and school leavers with valuable insights into higher education pathways and emerging career opportunities. SLTC representatives engaged with participants, providing information about the university’s diverse degree programs, industry-relevant curriculum, and unique learning environment. This initiative reflects SLTC’s continued commitment to guiding Sri Lanka’s youth towards informed academic and career decisions.

SLTC, in collaboration with Knowledge Bank Publishers, proudly participated in a Career Guidance Session held at Samudra Devi Balika Vidyalaya, Nugegoda. The session aimed to empower young minds with insights into future academic and career pathways in the field of engineering and technology. Dr. Nicoloy Gurusinghe, Head of the Department of Electrical Engineering at SLTC’s Faculty of Engineering, conducted an engaging and informative session, sharing valuable knowledge on industry trends, university education, and opportunities in the engineering domain. The event fostered curiosity and motivation among students as they prepare to shape their futures with confidence and clarity.

World Environment Day 2025 – Inspiring Change at Rajasinghe Central College

In celebration of World Environment Day 2025, we proudly hosted an engaging and impactful event at Rajasinghe Central College, Hanwella, centered on the theme of sustainability and environmental stewardship. The day featured interactive awareness sessions and hands-on tree-planting activities that encouraged Students to take meaningful steps toward a greener future. With the generous support of our partners, we cultivated a spirit of environmental responsibility among youth – planting not just trees, but the values of eco-consciousness and community action. Together, we continue to nurture a more sustainable tomorrow, one tree at a time.
