BSc (Hons) in Engineering in Information and Communication Engineering
Leading to Bachelor of Science Honours in Engineering in Mechatronics Engineering- BSc Hons (Eng.) (Mechatronics Eng.) is a four-year full-time degree programme offered by the SLTC Research University.
Mechatronics is a new branch of engineering that combines the principles of Mechanical Engineering, Electronic Engineering, Control Engineering, Systems Design engineering and computer engineering. The combination of these engineering principles helps to generate simpler and more cost-effective and dependable systems. As a result, Mechatronics engineering is at the forefront of technological advancements creating smarter products, devices, and processes across a variety of sectors such as robotics, automobile, manufacturing, aerospace, oil and gas and chemical industries.
The Mechatronics Degree programme at SLTC focuses on providing a sound fundamental understanding of the technical skills and principles of mechatronics engineering and their application in complex open-ended engineering tasks and problems. By following this programme, students will develop sound theoretical knowledge in the key disciplines of mechanics, electronics, computer systems and control.
In addition to the core subject areas, students are provided with a thorough education in English, ICT, Ethical Practices and Management disciplines. All students undergo a mandatory period of training with our industry partners as a part of their curriculum, providing them with real-life exposure to the industry prior to graduation.

Eligibility Criteria
General intake
Two (2) Credit passes (”C”) and one (01) Simple pass (”S”) for Combined Mathematics, Physics and Chemistry in one and the same sitting at the GCE (Advanced Level) Examination conducted by the Department of Examinations of Sri Lanka or equivalent qualification.

A semester fee of Rs. 275,000 will have to be paid to SLTC for a period of 4 years. (Please Note that a year comprises of 2 Semesters)
Refunds – Admission Fees and Semester Fee
1.1. Students are eligible for a registration fee refund under the following circumstances, and all refunds are processed within the same year.
a) Students who enroll pending results will be entitled to a refund of the course fee if they fail to achieve the minimum requirement of 3 advanced level simple passes. Proof of A/L results will be mandatory for refund eligibility.
1.2. University semester fees are refundable only in the case of a student’s failure in the GCE Advanced Level examination. For all other situations, students are required to pay the semester fees and it is non-refundable.
1.3. If a student is selected for MOHE after the 1st semester, the university will not refund the paid amounts (admission fee & semester fee, etc.) but will allow them to continue their degree as MOHE students.
Invoicing
2.1. Invoices are generated based on the AL results of the student. All GCE Advanced Level results should be verified and confirmed by the registrar department before being sent to the finance department.
2.2. If a student registers with pending results, the fee is initially determined assuming three simple passes (SSS). After the student receives the actual results, the invoice will be adjusted accordingly. Any additional fees paid by the student at that time will be transferred to the next semester fee.
2.3. Students are required to pay semester fees within the specified due date in the invoice. (Any delays will restrict facility access after a five-day grace period)
