Electronics and Power Systems
As an undergraduate reading for The Bachelor of Science Hons. in Engineering in Electrical and Power Systems degree awarded by the SLTC Research University, you will receive a comprehensive understanding of Engineering Science, Physics and Mathematical courses, preparing students for employment in electrical and electronic engineering. The programme has been approved by the University Grants Commission of Sri Lanka (UGC) and accredited by the Ministry of Higher Education. Graduates of this programme possess technical prowess in the areas of electronics, digital signal processing, electromechanical systems and wireless components and systems in addition to these, producing innovative engineering designs with intrinsic principles, adhering to ethical guidelines and standards of sustainable environmental factors also play a key role in the programme’s delivery.
The curriculum of the degree is based on “Outcome Based Education (OBE)” principles with clearly defined qualification descriptors, programme outcomes, module delivery and assessment methods, targeting a student-centred, blended teaching and learning exposure with a mix of technology-based learning tools.
In addition to being trained in the disciplines of engineering, the students will also receive a thorough education in English, computing, and core quantity surveying disciplines, and will participate in projects, and complementary courses comprising areas of management, humanities, social sciences, economics, arts, and professional ethics followed by industrial training.
The programme equips its graduates with critical analytical skills, core knowledge and competencies necessary to succeed in the Quantity Surveying profession or to progress to advanced degrees.

Eligibility Criteria
General intake
Two (2) Credit passes (”C”) and one (01) Simple pass (”S”) for Combined Mathematics, Physics and Chemistry in one and the same sitting at the GCE
(Advanced Level) Examination conducted by the Department of Examinations of Sri Lanka or equivalent qualification.
LATERAL ENTRY
Pass three subjects in one and the same sitting at GCE (Advanced Level) Examination in the Physical Science stream.
And
Complete one of the following qualifications
NDT (National Diploma in Technology) from the Institute of Technology, University of Moratuwa (ITUM)
National Diploma in Engineering Sciences (NDES) from IET, Katunayake
Higher National Diploma in Engineering (HNDE) from SLIATE
Graduate Diploma Level 6 from City & Guilds
Three-year B.Eng degrees from other universities at home and abroad, and an Engineering Graduate Diploma from IESL College of Engineering

PROGRAMME CURRICULUM
The Electronics & Power Systems degree program at SLTC is a four-year undergraduate program that covers a broad range of topics in the fields of Engineering and Electronics.
The curriculum includes courses in Principles of Management, Communication Systems, Control Systems Engineering, and Power Electronics and Energy Storage Technologies.
In addition to the below listed modules, the Winning Edge Undergraduate Skill Development Programme of SLTC is offered to the students with the objective of producing multitalented professionals equipped with the necessary skills and competencies on the four skills of communication:

A semester fee of Rs. 362,500 will have to be paid to SLTC for a period of 4 years. (Please Note that a year comprises of 2 Semesters)
Refunds – Admission Fees and Semester Fee
1.1. Students are eligible for a registration fee refund under the following circumstances, and all refunds are processed within the same year.
a) Students who enroll pending results will be entitled to a refund of the course fee if they fail to achieve the minimum requirement of 3 advanced level simple passes. Proof of A/L results will be mandatory for refund eligibility.
1.2. University semester fees are refundable only in the case of a student’s failure in the GCE Advanced Level examination. For all other situations, students are required to pay the semester fees and it is non-refundable.
1.3. If a student is selected for MOHE after the 1st semester, the university will not refund the paid amounts (admission fee & semester fee, etc.) but will allow them to continue their degree as MOHE students.
Invoicing
2.1. Invoices are generated based on the AL results of the student. All GCE Advanced Level results should be verified and confirmed by the registrar department before being sent to the finance department.
2.2. If a student registers with pending results, the fee is initially determined assuming three simple passes (SSS). After the student receives the actual results, the invoice will be adjusted accordingly. Any additional fees paid by the student at that time will be transferred to the next semester fee.
2.3. Students are required to pay semester fees within the specified due date in the invoice. (Any delays will restrict facility access after a five-day grace period)
Discount Schemes – September 2023 Intake
3.1. Students who pay the registration fee (Rs. 27,500) at an exhibition/open day or any other marketing event related to the September 2023 intake will receive a 10% discount on the September 2023 semester fee.
3.2. Applicants who pay the fees for 2 full semesters (1 year) for the September 2023 intake within the due date (+/- 5 working days) will receive a 10% discount on the entire course fee.
3.3. Applicants who pay the fees for 8 full semesters (4 years) for the September 2023 intake within the due date (+/- 5 working days) will receive a 20% discount on the entire course fee.
