Mr. Kasun Herath

Herath is currently employed as a Lecturer within the Department of Mechatronics Engineering at Sri Lanka Technological Campus (SLTC). In this role, he contributes to the faculty under the several course modules, including Robotics Engineering, Autonomous Systems, and Modern Control System Development.

In 2019, Herath achieved a Bachelor of Technology Honours Degree in Mechatronics Engineering from The Open University of Sri Lanka (OUSL). In 2016, he also earned a Diploma in Computer Science from the National Institute of Business Management (NIBM). In 2023, he successfully completed his MSc degree at the University of Moratuwa (UoM), Sri Lanka. He is affiliated with professional organizations and holds the following memberships: Associate Member (AMIE) at The Institution of Engineers Sri Lanka (IESL), Associate Engineer (AEng) at the Engineering Council Sri Lanka (ECSL), and Member (MIEEE) at the Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers (IEEE).

With over 45 publications in reputable journals, conference proceedings, and book chapters indexed by Scopus and Web of Science, Herath has established himself as a prolific researcher. He has contributed his expertise as an Editorial Advisory Member for books published by Springer International Publisher, including “Artificial Intelligence and Blockchain for Future Cybersecurity Applications” and “Big Data Intelligence for Smart Applications.” Furthermore, Herath has served as an International Committee Member for the 3rd International Conference on Artificial Intelligence and Computer Engineering (ICAICE 2022), Editorial Committee Member for International Research Conference of SLTC 2022 (IRC 2022).

His current research endeavours encompass the diverse domains of Biomedical Engineering, Brain-Computer Interfacing (BCI), the Internet of Things (IoT), Human-Computer Interaction (HCI), Artificial Intelligence (AI), and Computational Intelligence. Under the current research interest, he wrote two books named “Artificial Intelligence for Gaze-Based Communication”, and “Vision Attentive Technology: AI Approaches for Functional Mobility Assessment in Elderly Healthcare” which will be published by Taylor & Francis International Publisher.
