Baghya Erathna joined SLTC Research University in 2021, currently holds the position of Lecturer (probationary), and serves as the Head of the Department of Tourism and Hospitality. She earned her Bachelor of Business Administration degree specializing in Hospitality and Leisure Management from the University of Colombo and her Master in Business Administration from the same institution. She also completed her Postgraduate Diploma in Tourism Economics and Hotel Management at the University of Colombo, Faculty of Arts with a Merit (2020-2021) and currently reading her Master in Tourism Economics & Hotel Management at the same institution. Prior joining to Academia she pursued a career as a hotelier at one of the leading hospitality chains in Sri Lanka; Cinnamon Hotels and Resorts. She got experience working in five resorts all over the country where she obtained cross exposure in all the hotel department operations. She has been a researcher since 2021 in the domains of Regenerative tourism, Community-based tourism, and other areas including international book chapters, research articles, and journal articles.
