Ms. Bhagya Kanakaratne joined SLTC in 2024 as a Lecturer (Probationary) in the Department of Fashion and Textile, Faculty of Science. She holds a Bachelor of Design (Hons) degree in Fashion Design and Product Development from the University of Moratuwa. She further advanced her academic journey by earning a Master’s degree in Fashion Culture and Management (cum laude) from the University of Bologna, where she was recognized as a “Deserving Non-EU International Student” and awarded a prestigious study grant for the 2019/2020 academic year. Ms. Kanakaratne gained professional experience from her tenure in the fashion and apparel industry in Sri Lanka and Ireland. Additionally, she has honed her academic teaching skills as a course coordinator at the National College of Art and Design in Ireland. She was also a former member of the Institute of Designers in Ireland.
