SLTC Clubs
The SLTC has set up student clubs and societies in order to facilitate students to participate in extracurricular activities. Joining or starting a club can provide students with a sense of community, soft skills, networking opportunities, and just a good way to spend students’ free time. Currently there are 12 clubs and societies on the campus.
Sports Council at SLTC
The Sports Council at SLTC oversees and promotes student participation in a wide range of sports, including cricket, rugby, football, basketball, swimming, and more. It supports team development, organizes training and competitions, and facilitates participation in major inter-university tournaments. The council fosters teamwork, sportsmanship, and personal growth, offering opportunities for both beginners and advanced athletes to represent SLTC and contribute to its strong sporting reputation.
Media Unit at SLTC
The Media Unit of SLTC, established in 2016 as the university’s first student-led organization, is the creative powerhouse behind SLTC’s visual and digital storytelling. Evolving from a photography club into a full-fledged media team, it now leads six dynamic committees covering photography, videography, design, editorial writing, event promotion, and compering. The unit captures and curates the spirit of campus life, offering media coverage for major events, producing original content, and running signature projects like Master Designer V2.0, UniTalks, and Insight Magazine. Students gain hands-on experience with industry tools, engage in exciting campaigns, and develop creative, technical, and soft skills through exclusive workshops and collaborative projects. More than just a club, the Media Unit is a community of storytellers, creators, and innovators shaping SLTC’s digital identity.
IEEE at SLTC
Established in 2018, the IEEE Student Branch (SB) of Sri Lanka Technological Campus is one of the most dynamic and active student-led societies on campus, serving as a hub for aspiring engineers, innovators, and tech enthusiasts. Through a wide range of workshops, competitions, and international collaborations, the branch cultivates innovation, professional development, and academic excellence. Its flagship event, GISLA, along with AI art competitions, tech talks, and hands-on sessions, keeps the IEEE spirit thriving at SLTC. The branch includes three Affiliated Chapters—Industrial Electronics Society, Computer Society, and Industry Applications Society—and one Affinity Group, IEEE Women in Engineering (WIE). Each focuses on advancing key areas such as industrial automation, software development, entrepreneurship, IoT, robotics, and gender equity in STEM. From flagship events like Codemania, InnovMind, and InspiHER{Tech} to national-level initiatives like the SL Arduino Challenge, the IEEE SB at SLTC continues to empower students with the skills and global connections needed to lead in the tech-driven future.
AIESEC at SLTC
AIESEC in SLTC Research University was established in January 2022 as an Initiative Group under the Local Committee of Colombo South. Since its inception, it has evolved into a thriving platform that empowers students through leadership opportunities, global volunteer programs, and cross-cultural exchange. With a dedicated membership of over 60 active individuals, AIESEC in SLTC contributes significantly to the 500-member strong Colombo South entity, showcasing its growing influence within the organization. The chapter creates impactful experiences that encourage students to step out of their comfort zones, develop a global mindset, and make meaningful contributions both locally and internationally.
SEDS at SLTC
The Students for the Exploration and Development of Space (SEDS) chapter at SLTC Research University is a vibrant part of the global SEDS network and has been actively shaping the future of space science at SLTC since 2019. Driven by a passion for discovery, the chapter empowers students to explore and contribute to the frontiers of space research and technology. With seven specialized divisions, Robotics & Rover, Observation, Biomedical & Earth Science, Satellite & IT, Rocketry, Aeronautical, and Financial & Management, members gain hands-on experience through real-world projects, industry partnerships, and high-impact events. Signature initiatives like Project Albedo (Sri Lanka’s first radio telescope), Stargaze (our annual overnight observation camp), and Aeroventures (a leading seminar on aircraft design) highlight our commitment to innovation, technical excellence, and leadership development. Whether you’re dreaming of engineering spacecraft or decoding the cosmos, SEDS at SLTC is your launchpad to the stars.
Rotaract Club of SLTC
The Rotaract Club of SLTC, operating under Rotary International District 3220 (Sri Lanka & Maldives), is a vibrant, student-driven organization dedicated to empowering the next generation of leaders. Through a strong focus on community service, environmental sustainability, and meaningful fellowship, the club creates opportunities for students to develop leadership skills, connect with like-minded peers, and make a lasting impact. Committed to building resilient, innovative youth leaders, Rotaract at SLTC is more than a club,it’s a movement to inspire purpose, spark change, and shape a better future within and beyond campus walls.
Performing Arts Club at SLTC
The Performing Arts Club (PAC) is the premier aesthetic club at SLTC, serving as the creative force behind the entertainment at nearly every university event. Bringing together talents in dancing, music, drama, and visual arts, PAC offers a vibrant platform for students to express themselves, perform, and unwind in a fun and supportive environment. Beyond participating in university-wide functions, the club also organizes its own signature events such as Baila Night, වළ සතිය, and මේඝහාර, celebrating culture and artistic flair. Recently, PAC launched a student-led video series on TikTok to spotlight emerging talent and creativity on campus. Whether you’re an experienced performer or simply looking for a space to explore your passion, PAC is where your creative journey begins.
LEO Club at SLTC
The Leo Club of Sri Lanka Technological Campus, founded in 2016, has grown into one of the most vibrant and impactful clubs within Leo District 306 A2. Built on the pillars of leadership, service, and unity, the club has led numerous community initiatives, empowered youth, and represented SLTC with pride in the wider Leo movement. From its beginnings under charter president Leo Navod Kiriwaththuduwa to its current dynamic membership, the club continues to inspire meaningful change on and off campus. As a platform for passionate young leaders, the Leo Club at SLTC is not just about service, it’s about shaping a brighter, stronger future.
Green Army at SLTC
The Green Army of Sri Lanka Technological Campus (SLTC), launched in 2019 by Hon. Harin Fernando, is a passionate student-led volunteer group dedicated to environmental conservation and sustainability. With over 1,500 active members, the Green Army focuses on increasing Sri Lanka’s forest cover through tree planting, wildlife protection, agricultural initiatives, and community outreach. As SLTC’s first research-driven environmental committee, the club has led impactful projects like electrifying rural schools (Project ප්රයාම), annual tree planting drives, beach cleanups, wildlife photography, and charity work for elderly care homes. The Green Army fosters a spirit of environmental stewardship and teamwork, empowering students to create lasting change for a greener future.
Get Sync Club at SLTC
Founded in 2018, the Get Sync Club of SLTC is a student-led initiative that brings together passionate individuals from the fields of technology, business, and the arts. Driven by the motto “Together We Achieve Extraordinary,” the club fosters a collaborative and inspired student community through a range of activities including field visits, skill development workshops, and industry-focused webinars. Get Sync serves as a dynamic platform for students to expand their knowledge, gain practical experience, and connect with real-world opportunities beyond the classroom.
Gavel Club of SLTC
The Gavel Club of SLTC is a dynamic student-led community affiliated with Toastmasters International, dedicated to developing public speaking, leadership, and effective communication skills. Through weekly meetings, speechcraft programs, themed sessions, and inter-university collaborations, members gain hands-on experience in delivering speeches, thinking on their feet, and providing constructive feedback. The club fosters a supportive environment that encourages confidence, creativity, and personal growth—empowering students to lead with purpose both within SLTC and beyond.
Tamil Society at SLTC
The Tamil Society of SLTC celebrates the richness of Tamil language, literature, and culture while promoting unity and inclusivity across campus. We organize a series of annual cultural and religious events such as Diwali, Navarathiri, Thai Pongal, and Eid Mubarak, offering meaningful opportunities for cultural exchange and celebration. Our signature cultural programme showcases traditional music, dance, and customs, bringing the vibrancy of Tamil heritage to life each year. Join us in fostering a campus community that embraces diversity, tradition, and mutual respect.

Get Sync club is primarily focused on the industrial sector, and their primary goal is to advance industrialization to advance undergraduates’ practical skills and get them ready for the workforce by accelerating their learning.

The Rotaract Club of Sri Lanka Technological Campus was Chartered on the 24th of April, 2022. The Rotaract organized their membership into eight major Rotaract avenues to make project planning easier. Rotaract engage in Community Services and Professional Development and make youths participate in various activities and enhance their leadership and team working abilities.

A new, well-adapted trend among SLTC students is the University Student Enterprise (USE), a private limited company that is rapidly growing. Among the campus community, USE operates to be one of the SLTC’s business platforms. USE provides a wonderful opportunity for campus students to obtain a supplementary income along with a working experience. The campus community, including students and others, will be USE’s target customer.
